The Springs Country Club seeks an energetic, hospitality-driven, and experienced Director of Racquet Sports to lead and elevate our year-round tennis, pickleball, and padel program. This high-visibility leadership role demands passion, creativity, and excellence in member engagement, staff development, and programming execution. The Director will oversee the entire racquet sports experience, ensuring it aligns with The Springs' reputation as a premier private club in the Coachella Valley.
Core Responsibilities
Programming & Member Engagement - Design and lead a dynamic, inclusive 12-month program across tennis, pickleball, and padel.
- Develop and manage seasonal programming tailored to member demographics and seasonal usage.
- Foster member participation through innovative and traditional formats: tournaments, ladders, socials, clinics, exhibitions, and junior programs.
- Host member-guest events, themed mixers, intro sessions, and special holiday racquet experiences.
- Engage with the membership daily, ensuring presence on and off the court and cultivating strong relationships.
Leadership & Operations - Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team of racquet professionals and support staff.
- Manage the department's budget, operations, and court maintenance in coordination with facility teams.
- Ensure safety, etiquette, and club rules are followed across all racquet sports venues.
- Leverage technology to streamline reservations, communication, and member services.
- Coordinate guest pro clinics, demo days, retail events, and league participation as applicable.
Marketing & Communications - Produce compelling marketing for events and programs via digital and print channels.
- Develop annual promotional calendars, newsletters, and branded communications to increase participation.
- Use feedback mechanisms and member engagement metrics to adapt offerings.
Candidate Profile
Personal Qualities - Warm, welcoming, and service-oriented with a high level of professionalism.
- Highly visible, approachable, and enthusiastic about racquet sports.
- Self-starter with creative energy and a strong sense of initiative.
Professional Credentials - Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in racquet sports at a private club or resort.
- USPTA or PTR certified in tennis.
- PPR or IPTPA certified in pickleball.
- Padel instruction experience strongly preferred (certification a plus).
Technical & Administrative Skills - Proven success building year-round programs and increasing member engagement.
- Experienced in budget development, scheduling, and operational management.
- Proficient with court reservation systems, POS software, and digital marketing tools.
- Knowledge of court safety, emergency response protocols, and best practices in instruction.
Annual Program Framework
Fall/Winter (Peak Season) - Weekly doubles mixers, ladder leagues, and social events.
- Member round robins, pro exhibitions, and welcome-back socials.
- Monthly tournaments (charity, themed, competitive).
- Beginner clinics and intermediate/advanced skills sessions.
- Youth and junior development programs.
Spring - Club Championships across all racquet disciplines.
- Showcase events, guest days, and demo clinics.
- Member-Guest Invitational with integrated social calendar.
- Spring Break youth camps and family events.
Summer - Early morning and twilight events adapted for heat.
- Indoor fitness and racquet skills programming.
- Unique experiences: Glow-in-the-Dark Pickleball, Beat the Pro, Live Ball sessions.
- Youth camps and casual social mixers.
Year-Round Initiatives - Member orientation for new players.
- Cross-sport programming (e.g., Tennis + Pickleball days).
- Seasonal promotions and racquet equipment education.
- Quarterly surveys and ongoing adaptation of offerings.
- Continuous staff development and leadership visibility.
