Job Description

Location: Boston, MA | Hybrid – 1 remote day/ week

Salary Range: $85,000 – $120,000

Schedule: Full Time | Monday – Friday, 9-5

Our client is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join their growing team. This role plays a key part in supporting the Human Resources Department and will be responsible for payroll , benefits administration , HR compliance , HRIS data management , and employee onboarding . You’ll work closely with employees, leadership, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage payroll and benefits programs, including health, dental, disability, life insurance , and 401(k) plans.
  • Act as a key liaison with employees and vendors regarding benefit inquiries.
  • Coordinate and track employee leaves (STD, LTD, PFML, FMLA, Parental).
  • Accurately process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll using ADP.
  • Oversee time and attendance for non-exempt employees.
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure accurate employee data entry and reporting.
  • Generate payroll and benefits reports as needed.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding process : post jobs, schedule interviews, and conduct new hire orientation.
  • Assist with policy implementation and respond to employee questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR compliance, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and other employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee files, including I-9s, background checks, and medical documentation.
  • Manage annual reporting for ACA, 401(k), workers’ compensation, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to employment verifications and general employee inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal departments on employee engagement , wellness programs , and training initiatives .
  • Ensure all required labor law posters and HR compliance materials are up to date.
  • Provide backup support to HR and Operations leadership when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration .
  • Strong understanding of Massachusetts employment laws and benefits compliance.
  • Proficiency in ADP or similar HRIS/payroll software .
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and provide excellent employee support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or a professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Proven ability to adapt to change and implement HR process improvements.
