Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Location: Hybrid (25% in office/75% remote) must live within 40 miles of Knoxville, Tennessee

Salary Range: $100,000-150,000 depending on experience and qualifications

A Department of Energy-founded Manufacturing USA institute established in 2015, IACMI today unites 170+ industry, academic, and government partners to enhance products, processes, and workforce development. It collaborates with the Department of Defense to scale job skills and revitalize American manufacturing. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, IACMI is managed by the Collaborative Composite Solutions Corporation, a not-for-profit established by The University of Tennessee Research Foundation.

We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes for our rapidly expanding, multistate team of 40 employees with plans to increase staffing by 10-20% in the coming year. This role will also administer health benefits for a related company with 5 current employees. This role is responsible for developing HR strategies, implementing policies, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with excellent communication skills and a passion for employee engagement. The HR Manager will manage the hiring and performance management processes and will work with IACMI Leadership to align the HR goals with organizational business objectives. This role will also support the company’s compensation, benefits, and leave programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support HR strategies and tactics that align with business goals and objectives from the IACMI Leadership Team
  • Administer employee benefits and recommend changes in benefit plan offerings to IACMI Leadership
  • Lead annual health insurance open enrollment activities in coordination with IACMI’s insurance broker and payroll staff
  • Develop/refine all companywide HR processes, procedures, and documentation
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding
  • Administer background checks and drug screenings for selected candidates
  • Address employee questions and concerns on a wide variety of matters in a timely, professional manner
  • Participate in activities related to staff relations, including facilitating communication, investigations, grievances, arbitrations, litigations, negotiations, as needed
  • Work with employees and supervisors to develop plans for employee training and professional development while managing expenses to not exceed the annual budget
  • Ensure all aspects of HR processes, job descriptions, and personnel records comply with company policies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Provide new supervisor training and refreshers to keep management abreast of current legal, moral, and ethical issues in the workplace.
  • Maintain accurate personnel data, HR records and reports
  • Register for and maintain all state-required annual reports and new/terminated employee reporting; communicate necessary withholdings, schedules, and filing requirements to the payroll staff
  • Audit and maintain all required labor law postings
  • Work closely with the IACMI Leadership Team to support and provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, workforce management and hiring needs
  • Coordinate with payroll staff on employee benefit deductions and employer contributions
  • Administer unemployment, disability, and workers compensation claims
  • Reconcile monthly health insurance provider invoices against payroll records and address any billing discrepancies
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
  • Provide employee training on corporate policies such as sexual harassment, disgruntled employee, safety procedures, etc.
  • Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; analyze trends in compensation and benefits
  • Responsible for staff performance management review processes and salary reviews
  • Maintain company organization charts and employee directory
  • Design and implement employee retention strategies
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • PHR or SHRM certification (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR management experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Exemplify excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Experience managing a departmental budget preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across different functional groups
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly driven, proactive, and results oriented
  • Problem-solver with a proven ability to take initiative
  • Experience with MS Teams and Zoom.
  • Valid US driver’s license required
  • Ability to move around freely, lift at least 25 lbs., and sit or stand for extended periods
