Job Description

Provide specialized communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter for a middle school student in Bothell, WA. This contract position runs from September 3, 2025, to June 17, 2026, with a possibility of extension to accommodate schedule changes such as snow days. In-person interpretation services are required for 6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week, including one day prior to the start date for planning purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between the middle school student and educators by interpreting spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa.
  • Attend all relevant classes and activities to provide comprehensive support during the school day.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and family members to ensure the students academic needs are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) certification.
  • Proven experience providing interpretation services in educational settings.
  • Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in person, maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Commitment to supporting the academic success and inclusion of students with hearing loss.
