Job Description

A school district in Central Point, OR is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students for the current school year on a contract basis. This role is essential in facilitating effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring full access to educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff using appropriate sign language techniques
• Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment by adapting interpretation style to the needs of each student
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to provide accurate and timely interpretation services
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant regulations and ethical standards

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in an educational setting
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and effective communication techniques
