This past June I had the opportunity to give a keynote address at a conference in Bogota, Colombia. They asked me to speak about Wellness and “Taking Charge of Your Mind”. I was delighted to be asked and opened my talk with the question: “Can you be well and sick at the same time?”

For some people the answer was no, they are the opposite, well and sick. For others it was not so cut and dried; which brings us to the question: “What is wellness?” Is it just physical or is it mind, body and spirit? Well if you have been following any of these emails you will already know my answer.

But my answer comes not just from knowledge but personal experience, having been diagnosed 9 years ago, with uterine cancer. I had a hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiation and I had a real opportunity to delve deeply into my beliefs. I realized I knew, profoundly, that I was more than my body and that my wellness came primarily from my core, the essence of who I am.

Today I am privileged to work with people addressing a range of health issues but it all comes back to how they view themselves. Like loss, illness raises all the questions we have about ourselves and offers an opportunity to revisit key issues. Needless to say this is not for the faint of heart, but the rewards are pure gold. Please connect if you need support in finding the gold within you and navigating your health concerns.

I’d love to hear from you if you have any feedback about the website or if you have questions you’d like me to address.
